Member Art Series at CAS ... Molly Pomerance
Pattern and color are the twin impulses that drive my work. Color, vibrant and true engages me; pastel subtleties somehow rarely match my mood.
Pattern, both as it appears in the arrangement of objects and as it is part of actual design, (be it fabric, wallpaper, or anything else,) fascinates me. I love the interplay of patterns with each other, and I try to use many different ones in the same picture when I can. I also love the variations in pattern that arise from the movement of fabric and light.
Lately I have been drawn to the patterns that arise through the images of our urban environment; New York City and its traffic have proved a valuable source, as has San Francisco.
I hope that when people look at my work they share my vision and the
pleasure it gives me.
